But that's it for now....company is on their way!! Wait....maybe we should make it a painting party?!

Seasons Change

It doesn't seem too long ago that this was our backyard landscape.

This is from the hallway looking out to the back yard. The barkcloth drapes came with the Love Shack. Lovely!

And now! The dogwood tree is blooming and the lilac hedge is so wonderful!

I am thankful that they planted 3 different shades of lilacs.
Our view from the back yard now that the trees have come in. So beautiful!

The end of another beautiful day.

So....I've Heard

Can't wait till we can plant something neat in that huge planter below!

The fence post caps are solar lights. Way cool!!

We hope to some day put "real" bamboo in place of the "reed" but for now it will more than do!

OK, so to really appreciate the fence, you must be reminded of what once was...
See the lopped off arbor vitae on the side of the house? They were very old and had definitely seen better days.

And now I will leave you with a glimpse of last night's splendor. Aaaah, we do love life here in the Love Shack!

Lovin' The Sunshine

Well, it is another stellar day here in beautiful Southern Oregon! While hubby is digging fence posts (he is putting a fence in where the ugly arbor vitaes were) I have been a busy bee. If you have never been to the Love Shack, it has a real "California" style entry. (One of the many reasons we fell in love with the house.) Along with the tiled entry steps, there are built in planters. I didn't want to put in bloomin' "cottage-y" plants, so we went with grasses.....perfect!

I bought a couple boxes of shells a while back at a yard sale. Just the right touch in the planters, don't you think?

OK, honey.....I'm all done with my project! Please pass the iced tea.......

Come Together......

This is our new groovy lamp.
And our new dresser. Hubby went to buy the lamp, and found this too! A $25 steal I say!

And check out this little gem. It goes perfectly with the new dresser! Got it the other day while picking up a desk from craigslist. The Love Shack is coming together quite nicely!

Love Finds

Look what Hubby brought home! Isn't it the cutest find? (craigslist of course!) I think this man is a keeper! (Well, and so is this little gem....:)

And while I'm at it, here are some super groovy pics of our original green bathroom.

This toilet seat rocks! (Not literally, thank you.)

The atomic tiles couldn't be cooler.
 Love the lighting too.
The original floor.....so sad they covered it. I had to display a sample out of respect. And yes indeed, this is a pretty cool towel! :)

Before I go, check out the view this morning from the slider in the hall. Every day I find another reason to love the Love Shack!

Selah.....

The dust has settled and we are enjoying the Love Shack so much! The best and most enjoyable thing about our new home is the loved ones who are coming to enjoy it with us! We have already had many dear friends come, and anticipate lots more visits from friends and family. "Our Love Shack is your Love Shack".
Some of you have asked for more pictures, so here you go. We still have some little things to do, but there are always little things to do. Life goes right on, doesn't it? Imagine if we waited until all of the "little things" were done before we could start living?

Hubby brought this wonderful floor lamp home from work with him one day. Then a few days later, he brought these fabulous chairs! Thank you, Honey...for being the craigslist addict that you are!
We decided to go with the dark red carpet that was in the master bedroom because it is wonderful carpet in great shape. It inspired this sort of "Hollywood" theme that we will continue to play with. I LOVE my silver lamp that my dear daughter-in-law bought for me....another craigslist find.

The living room came together nicely we think. The Love Shack received our things with open arms.

We love this 2 blade "airplane" ceiling fan in the sitting area of the dining room. Hubby didn't love installing it though, I guess it was a real pain. He is a patient man.

Ah....the dining room light. A winner!!!
I will continue to post as the Love Shack grows and changes. We hope to one day remodel two bedrooms into a super cool master suite. But for now, the Love Shack is content. Because the most important thing about our beautiful nest is feathering it with love......

Nooks and Crannies

We are so excited to finally be moving into the Love Shack this weekend! Did I ever share our ever so cool shower door with you?
And here are some back yard treasures. Hubby wanted to take them down immediately. I insisted we leave them up for a while. I think they have grown on me. What do you think?

One last tidbit, our original green bathroom sink and counter. Oh yea........
The Love Shack is full of treasures.....and love.

Lovin' our Shack

The floor is done!! Well, except for some finishing touches. Let's say it is done enough that we can actually move into the Love Shack this weekend. We are so excited, it has been a long road "home", but we know it will all be worth it. This is our entry way, the back side of the fireplace. One of our biggest regrets is that this half wall had some flocked wallpaper on it, but it was gold and we didn't like it. (Make a note people, flocked wallpaper looks awesome painted!) Sadly, I was hasty and had already scored the paper for removal, so it could not be saved with paint. But.....happily, we found what we think is an awesome look that we were able to apply right over the wallpaper! Atomic indeed!
Oh, and I just had to share another amazing display with you. These never get old......

Soaking It All In

Work on the Love Shack has been slow. Yet we are enjoying every minute of life in our new home. Some tools and things were stolen out of Hubby's truck this week while it was parked in our driveway. Even that evil deed didn't stop us from loving it. So take that, bad guys!
The hot tub is in, and this is our view when we are soaking in it. Sweet.

Little Things

After a few days away from the Love Shack snuggling my grandson and seeing friends, I came home to a fully operating hot tub, and a lot of progress on the wood floor! Hubby is an amazing man! We are in awe of how this beautiful floor is transforming the house. We loved it before, but now it is stupendous!
Wanted to share my little project. I think it turned out really nice! OK, I realize it is nothing compared to all that Hubby is doing, but I do think it is really groovy. What do you think?

Sleepover

We spent our first night in the Love Shack! Hubby made the first of what I'm sure will be many roaring fires. This fireplace is really big and well built. There are pipes surrounding the fire box, and the heat pumps out quite nicely. Should keep the living and dining rooms toasty warm all winter.

Other big news (and if you know us you know this is BIG) we got a hot tub!!!!! Oh yea, thank you craigslist once again. The guy even delivered it for us, saving us $250. It will be a while till Hubby can get it wired in. First we will need some volunteers to come over and help him get it into place. But we have been dreaming of a long soak in hot water for 2 years!!!!

This just in......I gave the first tour of the Love Shack today! It was so cool and exciting to show off the Shack to like-minded "mod" folks like us! I had just pulled into the carport and noticed a man walking from his car with a camera. He asked if I would mind if he took a few pics of the house, saying that he and his wife just love it. I asked if they would like a tour and she jumped out of the car as excited (almost) as we were. I am so thankful for our friendly home and the opportunity to share! :)
